The honest summary
ScrollingMockup pioneered the category around 2021: paste a URL, pick a template, get an HD scrolling mockup video with music. It has served designers for years and it is genuinely simple. (Note: at the time of writing, in July 2026, its domains have been unreachable for us; the service may be down temporarily or discontinued. If it is down for you too, everything below still reads as a migration guide.)
The output is flat. The site scrolls inside a static device frame from a fixed angle, like a screenshot that learned to move. Mockvid takes the same automatic capture and stages it in a real-time 3D scene: a modeled laptop and phone with physical materials, studio lighting, floor reflections and directed camera movement. The "more animation, more 3D" ScrollingMockup's users kept asking for under its launch is the starting point here.

Why the 3D difference matters
Feeds reward whatever holds attention for the first two seconds. A flat scroll is informative but familiar: viewers have seen a thousand of them. Depth, light and a moving camera register as production value, and production value is precisely what you are trying to signal when you showcase a finished site. This was the most requested feature under ScrollingMockup's own launch: users asking for more animation and 3D.
There is also a practical difference: Mockvid's transparent exports (true alpha channel) let you composite the floating device over your own backgrounds in a case study or hero section, and the live 3D embed puts the actual interactive scene on your page instead of a video file.

Everything ScrollingMockup produces, Mockvid produces from the same input: the URL. Client showcase reels, portfolio videos, proposal clips. The additions are the 3D staging, desktop and mobile in one capture, every export format from one render, and a free tier to verify the fit before paying anything. Designers can start with the web designers page; the manual Canva route is covered in this guide.
Frequently asked
Is ScrollingMockup.io still available?
At the time of writing (July 2026) its domains have been failing to resolve for us and we found no official status announcement, so we cannot say whether it is a temporary outage or a shutdown. If you cannot reach it either, Mockvid covers the same use cases from the same input, with a free tier to test immediately.
Is Mockvid harder to use because it is 3D?
No. The scene ships staged: pick one of nine motion presets and export. The art direction (lighting, finishes, backgrounds, text) is there when you want it, ignorable when you do not.
What does switching cost?
Nothing to try: free 720p exports with no account. If you like the result, $9 one-time unlocks HD and every format for that site, forever. No subscription unless you go Studio for unlimited sites.
